The spirit of the Beatles, the greatest band of all time is being used to promote the YES vote in the upcoming Referendum.
The famed Abbey Road mixing desk, where The Beatles recorded all their material has been used to record a tune promoting the YES campaign.
Recently, veteran Melbourne punk band, Painters & Dockers, got to use the famed Abbey Road mixing desk, which is now installed at Museum of New and Old Art (MONA), Hobart where the band finished their 40th anniversary national tour.
The original console, used to record and mix music at Abbey Road, is the centerpiece of a new recording studio at the MONA.
“Just touching the desk and the dials was magical,’’ explained Docker Dave Pace
“It’s only four tracks. Most people have more facilities on their home computers.
“We wanted to do something special, so being passionate about the upcoming referendum, we decided to re-jig an old Dockers tune “ADVANCE AUSTRALIA WHERE?’’ to promote the YES campaign,’’ said Docker’s front man, Paulie Stewart.“We know the referendum vote is going to be close, so we are all keen to do anything we can do to support the YES campaign,’’ says Paulie.
